So which do I buy? But you
may be asking which type of aloe do I buy as there is a lot on the market, whole leaf, inner leaf, juice or gel? There is no real evidence to suggest that whole leaf aloe, which includes the rind
but is filtered and usually concentrated, is any more effective than just the gel and sap of the inner leaf alone, other than the fact that the rind is there to protect the inner leaf from exposure
to the elements which includes pollutants. However, what is most important is the quality and quantity of aloe in the product being sold.
Be careful what you buy
Unfortunately, many products on the market labelled as “Aloe Vera juice” may contain only a small amount or proportion of the actual inner leaf gel (15% is all that is required
by law to call it 100% juice), often with added agents. If in doubt look for the Seal of approval, from the International Aloe Science Council. This is an independent American
regulatory body, which monitors the quality of aloe produced before its put in products. There is one other thing you should consider and that is “purity,” where has it come from
?, has it been exposed to chemical sprays, insecticides or pesticides,? Can the supplier guarantee the origin of all the components of his product?
The Hallmark of Purity
Only one product in the UK and Europe comes from a vertically integrated Company. A Company that owns and controls the complete process from planting to growing (85% of
the worlds cultivated Aloe Vera), harvesting to manufacturing, every aspect from bottles, screen printing, lab testing and research, onto distribution and direct sale to the
consumer. This Company as well as being the first to be awarded the I.A.S.C seal of approval, also holds the Kosher rating (K), and the Islamic seal of approval both highly
coveted symbols for purity, and awarded annually and it is the only product that is being trailed by the NHS.
